Animated Bits and Pieces

Posted on October 10th, 2012

I have been rather reluctant to post these videos, but in fact I had a very interesting time at StoryDrive in China and Contec in Brazil, so it seems a shame to bury them. Subsequent to both conferences they were posted on YouTube. In the first I talk about the emotional connection between the writer and the reader, which manifests via characterisation.

The second is a composition of stills from various panel events, including: Can Your Book Do That? where several of us discussed the book/film/digital/game trajectory.

Finally, in August I was lucky enough to be invited to Jumpstart: Off the Page in New Delhi, India. There were some riveting presentations, including one by Ted speaker Shilo Shiv Suleman. She constructed, illustrated and animated her own app, in conjunction with a writer, editor and digital producer. The result, Khoya, really injects magic into digital storytelling.
